This is what Tappening.Com is trying to do – an organization committed to raising awareness and advocate for tap water use. It seems like a new organization/site, and they greenwash you a bit as well (by seeing if you want to buy BPA-free plastic bottles or stainless bottles). I’m guessing you already have one of these. The cool thing about this site is they have a national (US) tap water quality database. Hopefully Canada will be included next.
I’m personally at a loss with Bisphenol-A, it’s already in everything else. No reason to keep it around or anything, but we surround all of our food and other goods in petroleum-based materials in the first place. I’m going to a conference in Burlington in a month or so and there’s a whole session on Bisphenol-A. Should be interesting.
My next mission is to find out if any long term studies have been done on the effects of plastic on food. I can’t imagine always having organics on your lettuce can be good. Although it’s not like there aren’t any toxic organics on the lettuce itself. Sigh.
