Acid Mothers Temple.

Saw them last night at Sala Rossa.  I was a bit hesitant because this sort of stuff isn’t always up my alley.  They are of the experimental/noise variety.   Went with Chrismyman, Alex, and Ari.  I like tempo and melody too much too often, but I was pleasantly surprised.  Technical skill, dynamic, tempo changes, and knowing when to kick into something groovy made the Japanese darlings a joy to watch.  Plus who doesn’t like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon beards.  Respect.

Listen on MySpace here.

  1. was a damn good show, wasn’t it?!
as for tempo + melody, towards the end you actually missed an incredible tune (pink lady lemonade) based on a super sweet and really melodic riff, that was a great contrast to the rest of the intense shredding, a driving krautrocker that could’ve come straight off “neu!” and the most perfect encore imaginable – started off with some tuvan-esque throat singing, followed by a kind of celtic style a cappella ditty and topped off with
about 15 seconds of pure noise explosion (!)

in calmer news, bell orchestre is playing sunday. whaddya think?

  2. Dude, Kawabata rocks like a MoFo.

You should check out Belle Orchestre at La Tulipe on Sunday. They also rock. Not so much like MoFos, but definitely in some other good, non-generic way.

*Also, they are playing Starlight in Waterloo on Thursday, which warms my nostalgic heart.

  3. you guys are on the same page, right on. I really dig Bell Orchestre, would love to go. tickets still available?

Timea – Without Starlight, Waterloo would be a complete sham. Never ever disappointed in that place, I owe it many nights of incomparable funtime.
