Good thing we had comfort food for that hockey game. Turkey legs are so tasty and so cheap. $3.14 for two prime turkey legs. Too cheap. Decided to braise turkey legs, some leftover french baby potatoes, and we bought some brussel sprouts this week and needed to eat them up.
Lightly floured with S&P, seared in the dutch oven, resting on a cold pan.
Prepping the veg.
The braise begins – braising liquid has fat, flour, carrots, onions, garlic, thyme, red wine, chicken stock, paprika, S&P.
Final stages – french baby potatoes top left, reducing braising liquid for sauce top right, finished braise bottom left, and roasted sprouts with carrots, pine nuts, grana padano, lemon zest and juice. The plates looked gross on camera but tasted loverly. Roasting makes all the bad vegetables good. Loving the cast iron dutch oven – it can go to town with any $300 Le Creuset.
